North Pole Breakfast

Image
When Loralie came downstairs for breakfast this morning, she squealed with delight! We had the table all set with Christmas dishes for our North Pole Breakfast. Both kiddos got to open their ornaments from Santa, and enjoyed eating doughnuts and green milk (cotton candy flavored!). Then Loralie opened another package from Santa- our Elf on a Shelf! Loralie was supposed to pick out his name, and I was bracing myself for him to be "little baby" or "flower" (she keeps saying she wants a sister named flower), but she saw a picture of a teddy bear on that page of the book and decided he should be named Teddy! Cute! So each day they try to find teddy, as he will move at night (creepy?) and report to Santa if the kids are being good. We spent the rest of the morning getting the Christmas decorations out and Loralie declared all of them "the beautifulist Christmas she had ever seen". So now that all the breakable decore is up, I am sure Roman will start cra...

Let us Give Thanks!

We had a Kansas City bound Thanksgiving this year, as Caleb was on call. That means dinner at our house! I put Caleb in charge of the turkey (he likes to use the smoker), and I just had to make some sides. Loralie was super into helping me cook, so I let her do a lot of it. She did a great job! Roman tried turkey, mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. My mom invited a few of her Friends and, of course Matt came. It was actually very fun! Lots of talking and laughing and counting our blessings.

Poor Roman

Loralie made Roman play beauty shop with her today. I overheard her saying "Aren't you going to be the beautifulist bride?! This is going to be a dream come true." While straightening and blow drying his hair. He had a look horror on his face!

To Infinity, and Beyond!

Tonight we went to a really fun family movie night at church. It was called "The Indoor Drive-In". The kids were all given cardboard boxes and art supplies and got to make their own cars. Then we munched on pizza and popcorn and watched Toy Story. Loralie's besties, kaylee and Elliot came too! Is it sad that this is the most fun I have had on a Friday night in a long time???

Parent Teacher Conferences

We had our first ever (as parents) parent-teacher conference today! Caleb and I sat in the hallway like kids waiting to see the principal. Loralie's report was excellent though! Nothing to be worried about. So proud of our smart and well behaved daughter!

Ancient Chinese proverb

A wise man once say: "Feed a baby with a spoon and he'll eat for a day. Drop the spoon and he'll instantly grab it and smear it on his face and then make a big freaking mess but will look really cute doing it."

Daddy's Away, Baby will Play...

Daddy went hunting in Bolivar with Loralie in tow. Well, she didn't actually go hunting with him, she just got spoiled by Grandma and Aunt Chelle while he was out getting his deer. Me and Roman were left at our (much too) quiet and clean home! I'm not going to lie, today was a little boring. But I did notice that Roman plays very well by himself and has a pretty good attention span (something he really doesn't get to practice much with his ever preset playmate!). He will sit and play with toys for 20-30 minutes, then he will let you know he is ready to move on to the next activity (by yelling), but once you set him down in a different room with different toys he will play another 20-30 minutes quietly by himself. We ran some errands, played outside and did all of our other regular stuff. Not too exciting. Hurry home family!
