The Super Swing

Image
A few weeks ago I was busy painting the bathroom, while Caleb was entertaining Loralie. He came in and said something about how much she loved her "super swing" but I didn't pay much attention because I was up to my elbows in paint. Later he came in to tell me that she was asleep and he was going out. I got to a good stopping place and decided to go check on her, but to my surprise she wasn't in her crib! I went downstairs and THIS is what I saw (see picture). My baby was dangling in her carseat from the banister... sleeping peacefully. I about had a heart attack. Caleb swears that there is no way she could ever fall out, and the straps can hold like two hundred pounds... blah blah blah. Needless to say, the Super Swing is now forbidden.

Daddies

Isn't it funny how Mommies and Daddies interact so differently with their babies? Last night Caleb was making Loralie laugh so hard it was a good thing she was wearing a diaper cause I bet a little bit of pee came out. Wanna know what was so funny? He was ramming her head into the couch over and over again and making a crashing sound...why didn't I think of that? Oh yeah, cause I try to AVOID crashing her head on things. Silly me. And then he grumbles that she likes to snuggle with me more than him. She has things figured out.

On my mind...

Just like peter I want to go farther tread on the sea and walk on the water step where he steps and go where he goes side by side when the sea billows roll If I keep my eyes on Jesus I can walk on water, If I keep my eyes on Him, I can walk on water...

The Unplanned Bathroom Remodel

Yesterday Caleb noticed that the linoleum in our master bathroom was poofing up in the middle. He says it's no big deal, he can fix it. So today he tried to carefully remove the linoleum so that he could reglue it... at which point he tore it in half and discovered a big leak that was causing the damage and yelled to me "what kind of tile did you want in here???" So I get my tile in the bathroom. Wasn't expecting that today.

My Jesus Year

I just finished reading this book called "My Jesus Year". It was about a Orthodox Jew who takes a year to immerse himself in Christian culture to see what all the fuss is about. It was an interesting book because it showed what Christianity looks like to an "outsider". There are several things that I observed through his eyes from the book. First of all would be the issue of reverence. Compared to many world religions Christians are probably the least reverent. The term "is nothing holy???" comes to mind. This Jewish man cringed at the way we threw our bibles around and talked about God being our "friend". While it is true that as Christians we do have a close relationship with God, we also need to remember that he is in fact GOD, and not just our buddy. And if we truly believe that the bible is his WORD (which I do) then it should be treated with respect and dignity (and probably not thrown in the backseat of my car, or smooshed under my couch.....
