Spelling Tuesday

We had a romantic candlelight dinner last night... with the kids!  Lol.  And Caleb got me flowers and there was chocolate lava cake!  I went to both kids class parties and delivered a birthday surprise to my brother.  All in all a great Valentine's Day!    

We finally got to celebrate Baby Brummett with a fun shower for Becca! Loralie was so excited to go as she has been all about babies lately. She wanted to make the baby something special, and her first attempt involved fabric, tape, ribbons, and Christmas bows, which me and Caleb nixed for safety reasons.  I got her this quilt kit instead and she stayed up really late working on it.  She was so proud when it was done!      

   

I took these two goofballs to the Valentine's Day Dance at Shoal Creek.   Roman stuck close to Mommy at first, and I pretty much had to drag him out to dance with me.  Loralie hit the dance floor immediately and cut a rug. The real surprise was that about halfway through the dance a little girl from Roman's preschool class started following him around and before I knew it they were out there dancing together ! And then the next time I looked he was dancing with ANOTHER little girl... And by the end of the night I had to pull him off the stage where he was dancing... I kept having these visions of him as a middle schooler... very freaky.          

Loralie has always been a good reader, but she's always been rather reluctant until recently.  All of a sudden she's got her nose in a book all the time!  Her latest obsession is with learning about the Titanic.  Books for breakfast and on the way to gymnastics!  Makes this mamas heart proud!    

We took the train to Chicago with a fun bunch of friends this weekend to celebrate Valentines Day in style, a little early. This was the view from our room!  We could see Navy Pier and Lake Michigan. Then we got dressed up fancy and went to a fabulous restaurant. The next day we only had a few hours to see as much of the city as possible so we made good use of our time.  We visited the big shiny bean, otherwise known as the Cloud Gate at Millenium Park before breakfast. Then we wandered around Navy Pier, freezing but beautiful. We headed to the Field Museum for their advertised "Free Admission Week", only to find that it was only for Illinois residents.  Since we only had an hour, we decided to check out the gift shop and we accidentally wandered into the main museum!  It was a total accident but we didn't feel that bad due to the false advertising that got us there in the first place! We had such a great time and crammed a whole lot of fun into 48 hours!   ...
