Rice Cereal

Loralie ate her first rice cereal today. We had the video camera ready, expecting "yucky" faces, flying spoons, and cereal in hair. But she just gobbled it up! She loved it! I even accidentally made more than what the Dr. said she would probably eat, and she ate ALL of it! So that was fun. When are you supposed to start other baby foods? Like the mushy peas and carrots and stuff?

Teething Terrors

Oh, the fun of teething has begun for miss Loralie... We had a day of a lot of crying. Mommy is worn out! I finally called the Dr. and he said to give her Tylanol, and low and behold, she calmed down to a dull roar. I also gave her some teething tablets, but I am no really sure what they do... Caleb tried one and said he didn't feel any numbness or anything. And the T button on my computer is not really working as I spilt formula on it yesterday...Oh, and on a side note, my milk jus decided to dry up this week. Literally, it is just GONE, and I have tried some of the things the books say to do, but then I just gave up, cause it was so frustrating for her to be crying while I was trying to feed her, and then watching her gobble down a bottle afterward. Oh well. Four months is not bad, right? I am feeling pretty sucky about my mothering skills right now. And tired. Very tired. Baby is still waking several times at night, and we are stumped about what to do. Why can't baby's s...

God Provides a Ram

Remember in the bible, when Abraham was about to sacrafice Isaac, and God provided a ram in the bushes instead? There came a point in this journey to start our own business, when we were ready to sacrafice the whole thing... It seemed as though God wanted us to just give it back to him. It was really hard. We had stepped out in faith, and were heart broken that God seemed to be absent. I had to really deal with some attitudes in my heart. Did I love God even when he didn't give me what I wanted? Did I really trust Him, or was I just trusting the plan? Was I willing to follow Him, even when the path was hard and unclear? When I was finally willing to stop trying to make somehing happen, and to just give the dream back to God, he almost immediately gave it back to us, better than before. It was literally a week later that the local golf course approached US and wanted to know if we would lease their clubhouse. This building is Bigger than the new building that we were going to build,...

The Most I Have Ever Seen My Baby Laugh...

Was today when I sat her in front of me while I attempted to do Tae-Bo. I must have looked pretty amusing, cause she just laughed and laughed...Plus, she probably learned to count to eight!

My Baby Didn't Read BabyWise: Part 2

Okay, so throwing the whole schdule out the window yesterday did not have good results. Moderation Niki. Geez. We had one cranky baby on our hands. She barely slept all day, and I was admitadly more confused than usual about what to do at any given moment. And it didn't make her sleep any better at night. Luckily, a wise friend of mine wrote down her baby's schedule for 16 weeks, and I am going to give that a go. It seems very reasonable, and I am a resonable kind of girl. Maybe it is the teacher in me, but I don't like looking at a day stretched out before me without a plan... You know, it is probably just because I don't have a lot of experience with babies. I don't like that she can't just tell me what is the matter with her! But when she gets to be in preschool, LOOK OUT. I got all kinds of tricks up my sleeve for 2-6 year olds!
