Before I was a Mom

Before I was a mom I never really knew what tired was... Before I was a mom I would have never been HAPPY to see the skwaking thing that was waking me up... Before I was a mom I rolled my eyes at the screaming babies in Target...now I give the mommies a sympathetic smile. Before I was a mom I had no idea about the SANCTITY of naptime, and how it must be revered at all cost. Before I was a mom I had no idea there was a deep seeded controvery between attachtment parenting and "Ferberizing" Before I was a mom I never dreamed that my own babies poop wouln't bother me that much. Before I was a mom I had no idea that poop could come in such a wide variety of shapes, colors and consistencies. Before I was a mom I thought I was chubby at 130lbs... If I could get back there I think I would wear a bikini every day! Before I was a mom I worried less, but prayed less. Before I was a mom I didn't really apprieciate some of the parents in the bible and their stories... Hannah, Abra...

Loralie's First Easter

Image
Caleb and I had so much fun with Loralie on her very first Easter. She woke up to see her cute Easter basket, which had some books and toys (no candy yet!). She loved everything, especially her new sunglasses! Then it was off to church in her new Easter dress. She got her picture taken with the Easter Bunny! I guess she is still too little to be wierded out by that sort of thing! After church we had to head over to the Tuscan Ballroom to help out with our first ever Easter Brunch.

The Super Swing

A few weeks ago I was busy painting the bathroom, while Caleb was entertaining Loralie. He came in and said something about how much she loved her "super swing" but I didn't pay much attention because I was up to my elbows in paint. Later he came in to tell me that she was asleep and he was going out. I got to a good stopping place and decided to go check on her, but to my surprise she wasn't in her crib! I went downstairs and THIS is what I saw (see picture). My baby was dangling in her carseat from the banister... sleeping peacefully. I about had a heart attack. Caleb swears that there is no way she could ever fall out, and the straps can hold like two hundred pounds... blah blah blah. Needless to say, the Super Swing is now forbidden.

Daddies

Isn't it funny how Mommies and Daddies interact so differently with their babies? Last night Caleb was making Loralie laugh so hard it was a good thing she was wearing a diaper cause I bet a little bit of pee came out. Wanna know what was so funny? He was ramming her head into the couch over and over again and making a crashing sound...why didn't I think of that? Oh yeah, cause I try to AVOID crashing her head on things. Silly me. And then he grumbles that she likes to snuggle with me more than him. She has things figured out.

On my mind...

Just like peter I want to go farther tread on the sea and walk on the water step where he steps and go where he goes side by side when the sea billows roll If I keep my eyes on Jesus I can walk on water, If I keep my eyes on Him, I can walk on water...

The Unplanned Bathroom Remodel

Yesterday Caleb noticed that the linoleum in our master bathroom was poofing up in the middle. He says it's no big deal, he can fix it. So today he tried to carefully remove the linoleum so that he could reglue it... at which point he tore it in half and discovered a big leak that was causing the damage and yelled to me "what kind of tile did you want in here???" So I get my tile in the bathroom. Wasn't expecting that today.
