Happy Birthday America!

We celebrated the fourth of July in the usual fashion yesterday... Lots of food, family, and fireworks! Family in attendance were Nee Nee and Boppa, Aunt Andie and Uncle Matt, and, of course, Baby Ada.

Our neighborhood is a little bit ridiculous about fireworks. They are super competitive, just like with the Christmas lights, and the "who-has-the-greenest-grass" unspoken contests. So there were some pretty impressive (read:expensive) displays going on. Loralie has been commenting on the "boom in the kie" that she has been hearing all week, and she now knows that they are called "fire-cackers". She was pretty excited about them at first, when they were just going off one at a time. But when things started to pick up and it sounded like Afghanistan and there were flashing lights in every directions, she requested to go watch Elmo with Nee Nee.

Daddy did buy her some of those little popper things that you throw on the ground and they pop. She loved them and got very excited when she could make her own "boom".
