Loralie, Star of the Week

Dear Loralie,
 
Your Dad and I are so very excited that you get to be Star of the Week!  We have always known you were a star, and now all your friends will get to see why.

We love your creative mind.  You always think of new and different ways to come at problems. You create things constantly.  There is nothing that you cannot make if you put your mind to it.  We believe that you will use this special brain of yours to solve some of the world's big problems.  What a gift you are!

You are so so funny. Ever since you were old enough to talk you have made us laugh with your little sayings.  Laughter is one of the main ingredients of a happy life.  Your positive energy and ability to laugh at yourself will get you far.

You are such a great big sister.  Ever since you asked the Easter Bunny to bring you a "Brudder" you have been looking out for little Roman.  He really looks up to you, and wants to be just like you- even if it means clomping around in your princess shoes!  Thank you for the wonderful example that you are setting for him.  

These are just a few of the millions of reasons that we think you are a star. If Daddy and me had our pick of any girl in the world to be our daughter, we would choose you every single time.  We love you so so so much.  Thank you for being our star!

Loralie has had a love for all things Elmo from the time she was three months old. I am not exaggerating. When she was just a wee little thing I turned on Sesame Street just to see if she would watch it (she pretty much ignored all other TV at the time). She was indifferent to the bulk of the show, but as soon as the theme song for "Elmo's World" started playing, she was totally sucked in! Now, I know what you are thinking. "There is no need for a baby to watch TV." And I would probably agree with you. Conversations with My Father

I got my Dad this really cool book for Christmas. It is called "Conversations with My Father" and it is a book of questions that you sit down and ask your Dad all about his life. I am excited to start working on it with my Dad, but I thought it would also be fun to record my own answers to some of the questions. My book would be called "Conversations with Loralie's Mom." He he. Anyways, the first page is all about your childhood, so here goes. I was born on May 20th, 1980 in Portland OR. I was definatley delivered in a hospital, no hippy dippy home births here. The only thing unusual about my birth, as far as I know, is that I was delivered precisely on my due date. I like to be on time. I think it is a courtesy to others. My parents named me Niki Rochelle Brummett. My mom picked out the first name, after a friend she had had. My dad picked the Rochelle, because he said that the Niki was fun and flirty, but the Rochelle was beautiful and ladylike. T...

My Mom and the Mailman

This story falls under the category of "kids say the darnedest things". When I was about two years old, my parents sat me down to tell me the exciting news that I was going to have a baby brother or sister. My response was "The mailman will be sooo happy!!!" To which my Dad replied "Say what?!?!" He always says it's a good thing I was born with the Brummett gap between my teeth, or Mom would have had a little explaining to do! They still to this day do not know why I felt our mailman would be the most excited about the new addition to our family!
