First Day of Kindergarten

Image
Can you believe this little girl is off to her first day of Kindergarten???  This Mama can't!  I'm not going to lie, I was pretty much a mess all day long.  My baby is growing up.  It is all going too fast.  Someone hand me a tissue.  She, of course, went right into her classroom and found her seat.  She did have that "deer in the headlights" look when we left, but she didn't cry.  Unlike me, who sobbed as soon as we were out the door... Her teacher, Mrs. Watkins, called tonight and said that Loralie had a great day and that she was a good listener and got along great with the other kids.  Loralie didn't offer many details, but she did say that she liked it and that she had a good day.  I can't believe we have to go back tomorrow!  At least with pre-K I got a day in between school days to regroup!

Dog Days

We are trying to soak up the last dog days of summer.  Loralie starts school on Wednesday, so we really only have one more day of pool time left!  Eek!  It has gone by way too fast! Loralie can swim all the way across the pool now with no floaties.  It's a combo of doggie paddle and underwater frog kicks that looks like she is always close to drowning, but she manages to get where she's going.  Roman has also become quite water confident this summer.  He jumps right in and floats around with his sharky floater, which means I get to watch happily from my pool chair!   Loralie got a back to school hair cut and a Mommy-Daughter shopping day, which of course included ice cream! Tonight was "meet the teacher night" and we were both super excited!   (Tiny kid, great big school) She met her teacher, Mrs. Watson, and explored her classroom.  We walked to the cafeteria, gym, music room, and art room.  She is pretty excited to start!  Mom is ...

Weekend Away

Caleb and I dropped the kiddo off in Bolivar and eased to the rolling hills of Eureka Springs, Arkansas for some rest and relaxation. We did a lot of strolling and shopping and my favorite- eating!  On Friday night we went on a ghost tour at the historic Crecent Hotel. It was built in the 1800's as a resort for the ultra rich.  I don't really believe in ghosts, I just wanted to tour the hotel and hear the spooky stories.   On Saturday we took a lunch train ride on an old restored railroad dining car. Then, we did some wine tasting... And had dinner back at the Crescent- on the fourth floor balcony!  Amazing view! Putt-putt anyone?  I totally won. It was a great trip with lots of fun memories!  I will bask in the memories for weeks to come!
