Super Fan

Everyone should be a Super Fan of something! It is just fun to be able to be a little bit crazy fanatical about something that you love. For me, the only thing that has really gotten me pumped up over the years is... Books. That's right. I am totally a nerd. Particularly, I have loved reading series books since I was old enough to browse the chapter book section. In second grade it was the "Betsy" books, then came the Babysitters Club, then Sweet Valley high, and Narnia. When I was in college studying to be a teacher, I discovered Harry Potter (purely research, of course), and I would have to say that my biggest, nerdiest, super-fan moment thus far was driving to Wal-Mart at midnight when the last Harry Potter book came out and standing in a line that wrapped all the way around the store to buy it! There were people there wearing capes and elf ears and stuff! Not me of course, but I did read the entire first chapter while standing in line and finished the rest in the the next two days!

Another favorite series that I discovered when I was preggo with Loralie and unwilling to move much (haha) is the Twilight series. Normally, I would never even pick up a book about vampires, as I don't like to read anything scary really, but one of the Junior High girls at church would not put the stinkin thing down, and when I asked her about it she went on and on about how it was the best book she had ever read, so I decided to read it to have a way to connect with her. Little did I know that I would find a way to connect with every other teenage girl in America (and actually quite a lot of mom's my age as well!) I don't know what it is about the moody teenage (vegetarian) vampire who falls in love with the clutzy new girl, but the characters get under your skin within the first page of the first book!! Since then, these amazing books have been made into some rather cheezy movies, the fourth of which came out today, so me and my BFF Heather had to go see it!

Notice we are wearing matching "little Nudger" shirts (this is a Twilight reference that only the nerdiest super fans would get). So, overeall, a totally fun day for us Twi-Moms, Twi-Nerds, or my personal favorite "Twi-hards".
