Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree!

I love Christmas. And I love decorating the tree. It isn't just about adding some "holiday cheer" to the house. I love that every ornament I pull out of the box has a memory attached to it. I love that looking at our Christmas tree is like looking at a timeline of me and Caleb's lives together, and how each year we add to the memories!
This is the only ornament I have from my own childhood. I think I got it when I was in the junior high ski club at school!

This one is of the city hall in Bolivar, so it kind of represents Caleb's childhood.

This one is from 2001, when we were engaged!


This one is from 2002- Just married!
We went on lots of fun adventures and vacations and I always tried to find an ornament if I could! It is kind of fun to try to find them, epecially in the middle of the summer! Sometimes I had to make my own from little trinkets I found.
And then in 2008, we got a new addition! Loralie's first Christmas!

And this one was last year's. It just reminded me of our little family and the fun we are having starting our own Christmas traditions. This year Loralie is getting a Mickey Mouse christmas ornament, as she has recently become a big fan and we have watched "Mickey's Christmas Special" about a million times this season!

Loralie has had a love for all things Elmo from the time she was three months old. I am not exaggerating. When she was just a wee little thing I turned on Sesame Street just to see if she would watch it (she pretty much ignored all other TV at the time). She was indifferent to the bulk of the show, but as soon as the theme song for "Elmo's World" started playing, she was totally sucked in! Now, I know what you are thinking. Conversations with My Father

I got my Dad this really cool book for Christmas. It is called "Conversations with My Father" and it is a book of questions that you sit down and ask your Dad all about his life. I am excited to start working on it with my Dad, but I thought it would also be fun to record my own answers to some of the questions. My book would be called "Conversations with Loralie's Mom." He he. Anyways, the first page is all about your childhood, so here goes. I was born on May 20th, 1980 in Portland OR. I was definatley delivered in a hospital, no hippy dippy home births here. The only thing unusual about my birth, as far as I know, is that I was delivered precisely on my due date. I like to be on time. I think it is a courtesy to others. My parents named me Niki Rochelle Brummett. My mom picked out the first name, after a friend she had had. My Mom and the Mailman

This story falls under the category of "kids say the darnedest things". When I was about two years old, my parents sat me down to tell me the exciting news that I was going to have a baby brother or sister. My response was "The mailman will be sooo happy!!!" To which my Dad replied "Say what?!?!" He always says it's a good thing I was born with the Brummett gap between my teeth, or Mom would have had a little explaining to do! They still to this day do not know why I felt our mailman would be the most excited about the new addition to our family!
