Float Trip!

Image
We dropped the kids off in Bolivar so that we could have some fun in the sun with our KCPD family... Can anyone say "FLOAT TRIP!!!"  It is always a great time! You will notice in the above picture we got mooned... By one of the guys in our own group.  Real mature.  Haha! A nice relaxing float down the river, some cold drinks, and fun with friends by a campfire!  Yay for summer!

First Love

Image
So Loralie is in love...with a fictional character.  Mogley from the jungle book has been her favorite boy for about a year now.  We have tried to explain that Mogley isn't really real, he is just on TV but she will not be dissuaded.  A few weeks ago she wrote Mogley a note all by herself and left it on the back deck.  It said "Mogley, you can come to my house if you don't break anything."  I thought it was cute, but hoped she would forget about it.  She didn't.  She would sadly mention the note every few days and say that Mogley didn't read it.  Last night she wrote this one and left it out there: "Loralie loves Mogley" So I asked Caleb what I should do, and he said "reply". So here is what Mogley left for her: That's a mango, not a potato!  Haha! This morning she ran out to check on her note first thing in the morning, and when she saw his note she said "I knew he loved me!"  She then made me help her spell these: "Mogl...

We Are Makers

Image
I had a friend comment to me the other day that me and Caleb are "makers".  That is the truth!  We like to make stuff!  Sometimes it's out of necessity or budget constrictions, but we also just like the challenge!  Here are some things we have made in the last month: I sewed new curtains and pillows for the living room!  I will post a picture of the whole room when I am all done accessorizing... This is my favorite pillow I made.  I hand wrote the words to our wedding song on it. New photo grouping project.  That one was super cheap and easy! Caleb made this beautiful picnic table which I am hoping can seat a TON of people!   And added this teeter totter to the play set which has already been hours of fun.  And the best things we have made of course... These guys!

Happy Fathers Day!

Image
We celebrated Father's Day this year by cards and crafts for Daddy (see Loralie's paper tie above), and lots of his favorite treats.   The kids also made the above hand and footprint art which turned out pretty cute.  We had Lasagna and pie for dinner (two if Daddy's favorites, and he got to spend a good portion of the day banging around in his garage, working on some projects (more on that later!). We love you Caleb, thanks for being an awesome Daddy!

A Hiking We will Go

Image
We took advantage of the short break in the heat to take the kids on a hike at the nature sanctuary.  Neighbors Carrie and little Ellie came with us.  The girls liked being explorers and took turns holding the map.  Roman just chilled in the stroller.  You will notice that Loralie is wearing a sweater...one of her many quirks right now.  She wears a sweater every day. EVERY day. She claims she is cold, even if its like 100 degrees.  Loralie actually didn't want to go on a hike.  I had to bribe her with Ellie and a snow cone... Two more items checked off our summer fun list!

Take a Class

Image
We checked another item off of our Summer To-Do List today- Take a Class. Loralie is signed up for three months worth of "Little Lions" gymnastics class.  She had her first one tonight and she did great!  She said she liked the trampoline the best.  Roman was being crazy and screamy and generally unpleasant so I only managed to get one picture of her class... And then my phone died and I had to keep brother from throwing himself down flights of stairs and going through random people's purses... Anyone want to watch him next week?!?

Day 3

Image
Yesterday Stacey and I took a little road trip (sans munchkin) to the beach town of Monterey, famous for its now defunct sardine canneries.   We did some walking and some shopping (my favorites)... Found a cool Zoltar machine that probably would have granted me a wish but it cost a whole dollar... And ate a delicious lunch right on the waves! Next we headed to the aquarium to get our learn on. This was by far the best aquarium I have ever been to. My favorite things were watching the hammerheads stalk fishes in a three story tank, and the beautiful Jelly Fish.  I will call you squishy and you will be my squishy... Then we relaxed on the beach and people watched.  It was beautiful weather but you couldn't have paid me to get in that icy water! What a fun trip!  I am missing my babies but I will soon miss the ocean air!
