Float Trip 2014

Image
We got to listen to these two play "pull my feen-ner" for three hours... But then we dropped them off in Bolivar and we were foot loose and fancy free! Love these girls! A weekend of fun and shenanigans!

Mission Adelante

Out church gave us the opportunity to help lead a vacation bible school for refugees from Butan and Sudan, as well as some Latino kids living in Kansas City. I took Loralie and I think it was an eye opening experience for her.  She played with little kids who had been uprooted from their countries because they refused to deny Christ.  It was pretty cool.  It was not hard to pick her out of the crowd!  The only red-head in a sea of black!

Roman at 2.5

Image
Oh my word, Roman is two and a half!   Here's what's new with our baby boy: His latest obsessions?  Light switches and countertops.  He will carry his little step stool all over the house so that he can flip the lights!  He can also push the chairs around the kitchen to get on the counter.  No decorative fruit bowl is safe! He still loves puzzles and trucks and school buses.  And Elmo, lots of Elmo. This kid loves food.  He gets hangry just like mommy.  When you ask him what he wants to do today he might say, "just eat some food".   He loves counting books and can rote count to ten.  He can also sort colors and  identify a few numbers.  He'll say "that two! That momans number!"   He makes us laugh a lot!  He is so darn cute that its hard to keep a straight face when disciplining him. He is trying to potty train himself with little effort on my part.  He asks to wear "unnerwares" all the time and says that diapers...

Happy Anniversary

To celebrate our twelfth year of wedded bliss Caleb and I went on a foodie date.  Wine and cheese tasting at an organic goat farm?  Yes cheese! You see what I did there?!? You could really taste the goat in some of these... After much tasting and sipping we went out to dinner.  What?  A few little pieces of cheese are not going to "cut it" for this girl!  We went to the Justice Drugstore Resturant, which has amazing food and terrible service.  Great date!

DJ Roman

I was pushing this guy on the swing today, singing show tunes quietly to myself, when he turned around and said, "Mom, turn that music off!"  Lol.  Message received, son.

Lenny's Maiden Voyage

Image
We decided to take the kids and Lenny the camper to smithville lake for one night, as a sort of test run.  It was exactly like a national lampoons movie!  LOL.   The first thing that happened was even though it was sunny and hot all day, the second we pulled into our spot it started to torrentially downpour.  Caleb mentioned "waiting it out" in the truck and Loralie started praying.  "Dear Jesus, please help it to stop raining cause we wanna go camping. Amen."  No joke, it was like someone turned off a faucet.  It was so drastic that Caleb and I burst out laughing.  The faith of children!  Thanks Jesus! Next, we turned on the air conditioning and got showered with mouse turds that were stuffed in the ancient vents.  Yuck. After that we got everything all set up and were trying everything out when all of a sudden Caleb yelled "turn the water off!  Turn it off!"  Apparently there is something amiss with the hot water heater. ...
