Potty Progress

This morning Loralie told me she had to potty, so we scrambled up to the potty and made it in the nick of time. As she was sitting on the potty she said "I so happy!". I said, "why are you so happy?" and she said "I get candy!". I asked her why she was going to get candy and she said "I go pooey on the potty!" By George, I think she's got it!!! Later on today we went to Taco Bell for lunch. I got up to get everyone's drinks and I could hear Loralie saying "mommy! Mommy!". About the time I got all the way across the restaurant she screamed "LORALIE'S MOMMY!!!!!!!!!!" That got my attention! I turned around to look at her and she just had a huge smile on her face and waved at me!

Our Fashionista

Loralie has been cracking me up this morning! It started with me cleaning out a closet that was full of clothes that people had given to me that were about two years too big for Loralie. She immediately pulled out this pink shirt with princesses and ponies on it and said " oooh ! cute! CUTE!" and asked for me to put it on her. As you can see, it is more like a dress than a shirt! She then requested a "Pink Hairbow " to go with it! Such a girlie girl! And then she was entertaining me and Daddy by putting on her " gock - ies " and saying "cool dude!" It was very "Olsen-Twins-Back-In-The-Day"! She then pulled out Daddy's bullet proof vest and was dragging it around the house calling it a "pretty dress"! Hehe . I love this age! She is such a funny little person and I love spending my days with her!

21 Months

Sigh. Twenty one months. That can't be right! My baby is so close to two! The Terrible Twos... Sigh. Loralie is talking up a storm and literally repeating anything that we say (be careful mom!). She can answer questions logically and remember things from days before. Whenever she hears a knock on the door she screams "NEE NEE AND BOPPA !!!" as they are pretty much the only people that come to visit us... When you ask her how old she is she says "one!" and when you ask her what her name is she can say " Lor -lie" (some of the time). Her favorite foods are " Roni " (macaroni) and hot dogs (I know, I know, not that healthy) and of course cookies, cake, chocolate, and CANDY! Kids know what's good; you really don't have to teach them! And honestly, we don't give her treats that often, but somehow she knows all about candy and (gasp) "pop" and can hear the ice cream man from a block away! She has recently had some trouble gett...

Our Kansas Adventure

Yesterday Caleb and I found ourselves in uncharted territory. It was a Saturday night, and neither one of us had to work! So we pondered what to do with this anomaly , and decided to take Loralie to Cabela's and the Legends. We told her we were going to go see the fishies and she got oo- ber excited. Even after fifteen minutes of Caleb and I getting ready and loading up the car, when we asked her what we were doing she said "go bye bye in a car and see the fishies !!!" She is really getting a good little memory! She squealed with delight when she saw the huge aquarium, and had lots of fun checking out all the " amimules ". She got especially excited about the bears, elephants, and the "helicopter" (the airplane that they have suspended from the ceiling). Then we ventured out into the Legends shopping area and had a great time browsing and people watching. The most memorable stop being the "Cowboy Outfitters" shop, that had wrangler...

Silly Baby

Image
Loralie is starting to get such a funny little personality. She loves to be silly and she laughs at herself quite a bit! I thought I would share some funny moments that I have captured. Here she is with " Yiddle Baby". Yiddle baby is by far Loralie's favorite doll. She is generally nurturing and sweet with her, and then she will turn around and throw her down the stairs! Makes me a little nervous to give her a sibling! Here she is letting Yiddle Baby " swide " down the roof of her house. She also likes to be mommy's big helper. From about two foot down my house is really clean! Ha! She is not a fan of the big swimming pool this summer, and spends most of her time there saying "All done! Out!" But she does get to giggling pretty good when Daddy throws her up in the air! Here she is trying to teach our houseplant to play the harmonica. Note to reader: never play this harmonica if you come to our house. It is covered in mucus and spit and she is...

My Junk TV Epiphany

No, the epiphany wasn't to watch less junk TV. I actually had a little moment while watching one of my "Summer Guilty Pleasure" shows last night. It was during the show "True Beauty", which is this reality show where these contestants think they are in a beauty contest, but hidden cameras are recording them competing in challenges that they don't even know about- to test their inner beauty. On last night's episode, the contestants thought they were competing to have the most couples pick them to stand with them in their Vegas weddings as best men/maids of honor. But the real challenge was that while they were in the dressing room getting ready, a Mom- zilla was chewing out her bride-to-be daughter, leaving her in tears in the middle of the bridal gown shop. Most of the "True Beauty" contestants were so busy checking themselves out in the mirror they didn't even notice the unhappy bride. Some noticed her and understood what was going...

Happy Birthday America!

Image
We celebrated the fourth of July in the usual fashion yesterday... Lots of food, family, and fireworks! Family in attendance were Nee Nee and Boppa , Aunt Andie and Uncle Matt, and, of course, Baby Ada. Our neighborhood is a little bit ridiculous about fireworks. They are super competitive, just like with the Christmas lights, and the "who-has-the-greenest-grass" unspoken contests. So there were some pretty impressive (read:expensive) displays going on. Loralie has been commenting on the "boom in the kie " that she has been hearing all week, and she now knows that they are called "fire- cackers ". She was pretty excited about them at first, when they were just going off one at a time. But when things started to pick up and it sounded like Afghanistan and there were flashing lights in every directions, she requested to go watch Elmo with Nee Nee. Daddy did buy her some of those little popper things that you throw on the ground and they pop. She ...
