Clifford and Choo-Choos

Image
I took Loralie to the Clifford exhibit today. It was super crowded, and I am pretty sure she had no prior knowledge of Clifford, but she loved it! Especially sliding down Clifford's big tail... And going in and out of the little house! We put some seashells in a bucket.. And sorted some mail. And then it was time for lunch so we headed for Fritz's which she LOVED. She got super excited everytime a train drove by! And the first thing she said after she woke up from her nap today was, "go bye bye in the car and see the choo choo's again?"

It's Business Baby

Starting your own business is just like having a baby. At first, it is just an idea. A dream. You sit around fantasizing about how great it would be to be your own boss. No more working for "the man". You could create your own dress code... Casual Monday-Friday! And you sit around and think up names. And picture what your little business will look like. You can't wait to hold it in your arms. And then comes the total discomfort of pregnancy. People coming up to you night and day asking "Wasn't that business supposed to be up and running by now? Gosh you look ready to explode!" You prepare and prepare and prepare and prepare. But low and behold, you are nowhere NEAR prepared! Because the next thing is the birth, and OH BABY, that hurts. Your checkbook, your patience, and your time are SQUEEZED until they are a bloody mess. (too far? sorry.) It is work, heck it is LABOR. Hard Labor. Sweaty Labor. Makes-you-wanna-quit-and-go-home-labor! But then the moment com...

Daddy's Day and 20 Months

Image
Happy Father's Day to my sweet wonderful husband! We celebrated Daddy's Day by letting him sleep in (a real gift in our house!) and then taking him out to lunch. Loralie picked out Daddy's card, which had a frog riding a motorcycle on it. She got very excited in the store, yelling "frog! MOTORCYCLE!" Then Daddy got to go on a shopping spree for new jeans and shoes (sounds a little girly , but his idea, so I went with it). This seems like a rather thoughtless gift on my part, but you must understand that my husband doesn't ever want anything that costs less than a thousand dollars. And if he does, he buys it for himself! And if you buy him a gift card, he will save it for a year and possibly never use it. And if you just give him cash he will use it to buy something dreadful like gas or paying the bills. So I gave him cash in his card with a requirement that he had to spend it by the end of the day, preferably on something fun! My own Dad, who is the best dad i...

Oh my oh my oh dinosaurs!

Today started out like any boring Tuesday. Caleb was determined to mow the lawn, I was going to catch up on the laundry. But when the gas tank for the mower was found to be empty and it started to rain, grown up jobs went out the window and we headed out for some fun! We took Loralie to the Union Station Dinosaur exhibit. I must say, not the most age appropriate choice we could have made... It was a lot scarier than I anticipated! It had really loud dinosaur sounds and really big moving dinos . She seemed a little apprehensive, but didn't cry or get upset or anything. She was okay, just as long as Daddy was holding her tight. He could beat up any mean old dinosaur anyways.

Simmin' in the Simmin' Pool!

Image
So, our outdoor baby has a new love of her life- "Simmin' in the simmin' pool!" I think she would be out there all day if I let her! In fact, I have to watch her really carefully when we are just playing in the backyard, cause she has been known to crawl in by herself fully dressed! She likes to splash and kick, and play with her watering can and rubber duckies. Mama is going to have a good tan by the end of this summer!

Happy Anniversary to Us!

In honor of me and Caleb's EIGHT YEAR ANNIVERSARY, I thought I would revisit our amazing honeymoon! We went to the Mayan Rivereria in Mexico and stayed at a really nice all inclusive resort. We had so much fun playing on the beach and staying in the same hotel room... he he. Never got to do that before! This is the Mayan Ruins of Chichin Itza (I probably didn't spell that right.) We got to go on a day tour and climb all the way to the top of them! That was a lot of stairs! Dangling our feet off the top... My young husband, looking a bit like Indiana Jones... And 22 year old me... Dang, that girl didn't know what she was getting into! Ha! It has been one wild ride, and I wouldn't have wanted to go on it with anyone else but you, babe!
