Happy Birthday to Loralie!

Image
Loralie celebrated her very first birthday on Sunday with a rubber ducky themed party. Mom went a little nutso on the theme (hey, I am an event planner, it's what I do!), so there were rubber duckies galore! I made the cake myself (thank you very much!), and I think it turned out super cute. All of Loralie's guest had to get their pictures taken in the fake bath tub! Loralie wore a special ducky dress that Grandma Lenz made for her. Overall, there was a lot of present opening, cake smearing, and giggling. I didn't manage to get a picture of her smearing her little cake on herself because I was busy cutting the big cake for the grown-ups. But I know there are pictures out there somewhere (Aunt Michelle or Grandma Lenz will have to send them to me later!) I can't believe my little girl is a whole year old!

Smarter Than Your Average Baby

So yesterday Caleb and I were cleaning what we refer to as "his" room ( I just close the door most days and pretend it isn't a disaster area in there). We had Loralie's birthday presents (unwrapped) piled up on the bed. She was in there with us, playing on the floor, and I said to Caleb "Uh oh, maybe she shouldn't be in here. She might see her presents!" We both chuckled, as babies are mostly oblivious to their surroundings. Ha ha. As I picked Loralie up to leave the room, she spotted the huge bead maze on the bed. Her little face lit up with excitement. She pointed, clapped her hands, pointed, and looked at me expectantly. Uhh... now what do I do? I ushered her out of the room as she began to scream and point at the toy that was not destined to be hers for another three weeks. So much for oblivion.
