My baby didn't read Babywise...

We have been trying to follow the babywise method since Loralie was born. It seemed to work pretty well until she actually slept through the night, and then we got a little stumped about what to do. The book is rather vaugh (sp?) about how to drop a feeding/or a nap. She started waking up at 5am every morning, and I thought "well, she has already slept through the night for weeks, so she can't be hungry..." poor baby. Your mom is so dumb. So after two weeks of this (her waking up at 5, 5:30, 6, 6:30 AND 7) I finnally gave in last night and fed her at five. She happily went right back to sleep and slept until 9:30! Now that is a schedule I can get behind! Ha! So I think I am going to try to wing it a bit more this week, and not be so strict on the schedule, because I think I know her signals enough now to be able to figure out what she wants. I will let you know in a week if it has totally messed her up or not!

Mr. Moo Face

Loralie's favorite toy right now is a stuffed cow's head that is attatched to a blanket. (It's cuter than it sounds...) Last night she was staring at it, and then hugging it, and then staring at it, and then hugging it. With a lot of trying to eat it in between! She has also discovered her "volume" button. This morning I was awakened by a blood curtling screech. I sat straight up in bed and when I got in there she was just smiling away. Ha.

The Answer is in The Bible

My mom told me this story the other day, and since it is part of my families faith legacy, I thought I should record it for posterity! When my parents were first married and young parents, they were musicians. They played music in nightclubs for a living. Needless to say, the pay wasn't great, but they were livin' the dream! Ha! They managed to buy their first house for a grand total of $5,000, only because it was in the small town my Dad had grown up in, and the bankers all knew him. He put his music equiptment up for collateral! Because they were on the road for months at a time, they had a renter living in the house. They didn't get the notices that the taxes on the house were due... When they finally got back to town, they found that their house was going to be auctioned off for the total due on their taxes- $150. That amount of money seemed tremendous. They had no idea how they would be able to pay it, the only thing they could think to do was to pray. The...

More Notes from the Wilderness

No more news on the Tuscan Ballroom. But for whatever reason, I am not really worried anymore. The more time that I spend with the Father, the more I am convinced that he is using this time "in the wilderness" to prepare us for what lies ahead. He is teaching us to trust him. You can't really say that you trust someone if you are constantly second guessing them, or doubting them. So, I have just decided that I am going to keep striving for my dream, because it was put in my heart by Jesus. I am going to use this time of waiting to draw closer to him, to spend time with him, and to practice living in his constant presence. I am going to look deep within myself and see if there is anything in me that God would like to change. I am going to focus on praising him and thanking him for all the amazing blessings in my life. And everytime that He closes a door, I will know that we are that much closer to the door that he will open. I really think that if I am willing to...

I'm An Addict

To sugar, that is. On reviewing my food journal for the last week, I have discovered that I am a junk food junkie. So the goal for this week is to use mypyramid.gov to make sure that I am eating healthy and enough calories to breast feed. I am also going to make sure I work out at least 30 minutes 5 days a week. On an unrealted note, my sweet baby SLEPT THROUGH THE NIGHT last night! 11pm-6am. So that was really exciting for me! Also, we are negotiating a lease for what would be the perfect building for the Tuscan, so say a prayer. I don't want to talk about it too much because I am just waiting for the other shoe to drop, as it usually does. But this could be it!
